Portland pastors
September 30th, 2008

I just finished ministering to a group of pastors in Santa Ana, California and Portland, Oregon. There were close to 700 pastors in Portland (counting spouses) and we had a powerful time. Of course, everyone’s concern was for the bailout vote that was defeated yesterday.
Everyone had a sense of calm that God is (of course) in charge of the situation. I taught from Hebrews 12: 28 on our “unshakeable kingdom.”. Paul went on to teach that we should be unshakeable in our 1. Devotional life (12:28), 2. Outreach to others (13:1-3), 3. Marriage and family (13:4), 4. Contentment about money (13:5), 5. Local church attachment (13: 7), 6. Solid doctrine (13:9), and 7. Giving to others (13:16).
In this time of crisis, check out your “alignment” in these seven areas. They will keep you stable when everything else is rocking!

Sometimes I think it may do us good to feel a small bit of the privation our fellow believers feel worldwide. Somehow, yesterday seemed more
