My heart is so burdened today for two groups of people: the “lost” and the “prodigals.”
Israel was in captivity twice: to Egypt and to Babylon. Egypt represents salvation, coming out of the bondage of sin. Babylon represents backsliders, those who knew the Lord but have drifted away. We need to pray for both groups of sinners to come to and return to the Lord.
In prayer this morning, I could see vultures circling over a lone figure in the wilderness. It was a confused, burned out, offended, deceived believer who has allowed the enemy to separate them from the Body of Christ. Satan is watching their pitiful condition in order to devour them. How many there are who once walked with the Lord and were happily in fellowship with other believers in the local church. Now, because of overwork, wrong priorities, relationship problems, hurt feelings, or temptation they are out in the “wilderness.”
I am praying that at Easter, the “prodigals will come home.” If you know one, start praying right now for them. Pray with us each day during holy week for them to return to the Lord. Jesus wept over Jerusalem because they were missing their “day of visitation.” He could see Satan’s ultimate goal was to surround them with armies and kill them and their children. That is also his plan for the prodigals and backsliders.
Let’s run off the “vultures” and bring God’s people home from Babylon…
