Belonging to God gives great peace in the storm
Have you ever lost something in an airport?
I recently had my AirPods fall out of my pocket at the Minneapolis airport.
When I got to Dallas, I missed them. I turned on the “Find My” app on my phone, and THERE THEY WERE…in Minneapolis terminal.
I called, I tried everything to get them back, to no avail.
You belong to God.
He can see the storm you are in. He has all the power in the world to rescue you from where you are!
Here is what brings security when you know you belong to God:
Hope is never lost when you belong to God.
“For this very night there stood before me an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I worship, and he said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must stand before Caesar…” (Acts 27: 23-24)
For two weeks, Paul bobbed around in the Mediterranean Sea in a category 5 typhoon. All hope was abandoned.
Suddenly, an angel appeared telling him that he would be rescued.
His message to his fellow passengers? “The God to whom I belong has sent His angel…”
It appeared that God had “lost” him. We are never lost because we belong to God!
2. When you belong to God, you have an assignment.
Paul was assigned by heaven to stand before Caesar.
Those who belong to God are always “on mission.” We have a purpose, a destiny, a calling. Regardless of the storm we are in, God will make a way out!
Trust God’s purpose in your storm. You belong to Him and He has dispatched you to change the world in a certain area. Relax, heaven is working on your behalf!
3. You are bought with a price.
“You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” (1 Cor. 6: 19-20)
God paid a dear price for you! That price was the precious blood of Christ and His suffering on the cross.
The higher the cost of an object, the more precious it is to you.
Can you imagine paying for someone with the blood of your own child?
Feel your value. Your very body belongs to God, and He wants you to be healed! Your mind belongs to Him, and He wants you to have peace.
4. God has called you by His Name.
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine…” (Isa. 43: 1)
When I married Melanie, I “called her by my name.” She belonged to me, and I belonged to her.
God has adopted you into His family. He entered a covenant with you. He gave you His name and He took on your name: “The God of Larry Stockstill.”
I have no fear because I belong to Him.
Look up and rest in Him today.
Feel His arms around you, protecting you.
When you belong to Him, His “Find My” will always find you in every storm and rescue you out of it!
