God is Good in These Seven Delicious Ways

“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good” (Ps. 34:8)

My favorite seafood restaurant here in Louisiana offers a “Shrimp 7 ways dinner.”  It is full of “deliciousness!”

Sometimes, I can TASTE God's goodness. Specific experiences and insights are bursting with the flavors of His rich “seasoning” of life.

Check out these seven delightful “bites” of the goodness of God:

  1. His CREATION is good.

Last week, Melanie and I went to the beach for a few days.  Sitting on the sand, watching the crystal water form waves and crash on the shore, IT WAS DELICIOUS.

Smelling an evergreen forest high in the Smokies or seeing the aspens turn in Colorado overwhelms your senses.

God even said, “It is GOOD” after He created it!

2. His PROVISION is good

Think of a gorgeous field of crops in prolific harvest or watching an undersea video with millions of fish swimming in rhythm.

God is “abundantly good.”  Jesus said that if we enjoy giving GOOD things to our children, so does our Father.

The Psalmist said, "He satisfies my mouth with GOOD things” (Ps. 103: 5).

He has abundance and wants to meet your needs abundantly.

3. His FORGIVENESS is good

“The GOODNESS of God leads you to repentance” (Rom. 2:4).

Let that “bite” go down.

Remember how GOOD you felt the moment the first wave of His forgiveness washed over your sinful soul?  “Delicious.”

4. His HEALING is good (Acts 10:38)

“Jesus went about doing GOOD and healing ALL who were oppressed of the devil” (Acts 10:38)

I have so much to thank Him for in His goodness to me.  Health is a gift we neglect even to notice.

If you are moving, breathing, laughing, eating, sleeping, “Behold, the GOODNESS of God!”

5. His PROVIDENCE is good.

All of us have bad things happen to us.  There is a thread of God’s goodness, however, running right down the middle of it:  “All things work together for GOOD…” (Rom. 8: 28)

Joseph told his conniving brothers, “You meant it for evil, but God meant it for good” (Gen. 50:20).

Keep praising and worshipping Him despite bad events.  Job is a testimony that everything turns out for GOOD.  Delicious!

6. His pROTECTION is good

Jesus called Himself the “Good Shepherd” (Jn. 10:11).

David referred His Divine protection over us, even when we “walk through the valley of the shadow of death” (Ps. 23:4).

He feeds, waters, and protects us. He said that His GOODNESS will follow us all the days of our lives!

7. His gLORY is good.

When Israel sang, “The Lord is GOOD, and His mercy endures forever,” a cloud of God’s glory fell upon the tabernacle or the battlefield.

God’s GOODNESS is God’s GLORY.

His glory inside of you is a “continual feast!”

Taste the goodness of God today.  Believe me; it satisfies better than a “7-way dinner!”
