Here is how to clear your mind when it is troubled

But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. (2 Cor. 11:3).

Eve stood before the forbidden fruit tree.

Its color was beautiful, it looked delicious, and it would make her far more intelligent.

In her heart, she knew she should not eat it.

One little thought changed the entire world as we know it:  “Has God said…?”

At first, she objected to Satan’s thought of temptation:  “We cannot eat of it or we will die.”

You shall NOT die!”  Her “thought” became an “argument.”

She reached out her hand and ate the fruit…and her “argument” became a “stronghold.”

Here are the progressions of how to “win the battle of the mind”:

  1. Not every thought that comes TO you came THROUGH you.

I heard this statement recently from a great teacher on renewing the mind.

It states this fact:  Satan comes to your mind and inserts thoughts from outside your mind.  They didn’t come from your spirit; they came from your flesh.

You'll need to analyze your thoughts carefully to find their source.  Don’t just “mindlessly think.”  Pay attention to your thoughts:  Are they from God or the enemy?

What will you do if you realize they are against God’s Word?

2. Satan is aggressive with his thoughts, and you can’t be passive.

When you recognize that a thought came from the enemy, you can’t just passively let it roll around in your mind.

An “unanswered” thought becomes an “argument,” and an unanswered argument becomes a “stronghold.”

Recognize that Satan is playing for keeps with his thoughts.

His lies must be countered by truth.  Find a Scripture to fit your case and hammer him with it until he leaves.

3. You must speak the Word of God to answer a “thought.”

In the wilderness, Jesus heard a thought when he was ravenously hungry after forty days of fasting:  “Why don’t you turn that big rock into a huge loaf of bread?”

Jesus did not try to “out-think” the devil.

He used the Scripture on him:  “He ANSWERED him, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone but on every Word that proceeds for the mouth of God.’ ”

I’ve watched people progress into bondage because they did not speak the Word of God OUT LOUD to the enemy’s “thoughts.”

4. Start to praise God out loud when nothing else works.

Satan HATES the praises of God.  He runs from it!  Praise will clear your mind and remove every argument Satan is building in your mind.

Praise puts the enemy into confusion.  He plans to gain control of your mind (fear, depression, addictions, broken relationships, etc).

Open your mouth and start to SING!  Sing psalms.  Sing hymns.  Sing spiritual songs.

The mental battle that is raging will stop!

Oh, I wish I could have warned Eve.

At least I can help the likes of you and me….to win the battle of the mind!
