How to make this Christmas about His SECOND coming!

Behold, I come quickly” (Revelation 22: 7, 12, 20)

Have you ever wondered about why Christ said that three times in the LAST CHAPTER of the Bible?

He means it.

Christmas is usually when we think of His “first” coming.  I woke up the other morning thinking about His “second” coming.
I sense that a lot of Christians are like the five sleeping virgins who were no longer expecting the Bridegroom.  No oil, no anticipation.

How can we maintain that “lift up your heads, your redemption draws nigh” mindset every day?

Here are several ways you can obey His command to expect His coming:

1. Quit calculating.

Many of us who have studied the Revelation have our charts and graphs perfectly set up.  We have decided that Christ CANNOT return until this, this, and this happens.

Hold up.  Sure, there are some signs of His coming, but we can never be sure of His moment of return.

He wanted it that way!  He wanted us not to know the “day or the hour” He would return.  He said He would come like a “thief in the night.”

Put your chart away and put your eyes every day on the skies.

2. Check your love.

Jesus told the Ephesian Christians that they had “left their first love.”  They had stopped being excited about the return of the Heavenly Bridegroom.

Christ wants His church to EXPECT His return continually.  He wants us on the edge of our seats, longing to be with Him as our spiritual Husband for all eternity.

If an engaged lady has no desire for the wedding day, the groom gets a little concerned.

He is coming FOR US, for His Bride (the Church).

3.  Speak to Him every day.

Before I got married, Melanie and I called each other constantly.  We wrote many letters.  We had about six months between the engagement and the ceremony.

We should be talking to Jesus every day.  We don’t know when He is coming exactly, but we have to speak to Him every single day!

Prayer is not a formula, tradition, or regimen.  It is us worshipping, adoring, and fellowshipping with our Beloved.

4.  Live in a holy way.

Christ is coming back for a “spotless” (not perfect) Church.  We must stay under His blood EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God.”

Lives of holiness and godliness.”  What Bride would be waiting for a wedding with a torn, dirty, wrinkled wedding dress?

Let’s deal with issues of sin in our lives.  Let’s get ready for the wedding with Jesus.

Remove every bitterness in every relationship.

Renounce every sin that you fall into easily.

Repent where we have failed to walk with Christ.

He came in the manger, but He’s coming in magnificence.

This Christmas, be looking for His SECOND COMING!
