In anxiety, think about God as your Keeper

Is it just me, or is our world spinning a little out of control?

It feels like a car with no driver, hurtling down a mountainside at 100 miles per hour.

I have a pastor friend in Bolivia who was on a bus in the mountains that fell 1000 feet down a mountainside.  About halfway down, the bus hit a ledge and my friend (and a few other passengers) fell out as the bus continued to fall.

He survived.  God was His “Keeper.”

Think about God as your Keeper when anxiety hits your brain:

1. God’s keeping power neutralizes grave danger.

He kept His servants in the fiery furnace and Daniel in the den of lions.

The Lord did not leave them.  Jesus kept them from the fire and they did not even smell like smoke!

Heavenly insulation.

The angels shut the mouths of the lions.  The normally starving lions were purring like pussy cats.

2. God keeps you under the shadow of His wings.

Often, David would be right before being caught by Saul.  The moment capture was inevitable, Saul would hear a rumor and have to return home.

Or, David and his men would circle the same mountain with Saul and his men on the other side.  They never saw each other or met up!

An angel let Peter out of jail with four guards at his cell, more at the second gate, and more at the iron gate that led out of the Fortress of Antonio into Jerusalem.

He put them all to sleep.

He can make a way out of danger because He keeps you.

3. God keeps you as the apple of His eye.

Keep me as the apple of your eye.  Hide me in the shadow of your wings” (Ps. 17:8)

The “apple” means the “pupil” of the eye!

God’s eye is directly on you at all moments of your life.  You are in the PUPIL (the dark spot in the middle) of God’s eye.

He has not lost you.  You are forever “found.”

Relax during anxious moments and let your eyes catch His.

He who touches you touches the apple of His eye” (Zech. 2:8).

4. God will keep you all the way until you arrive in heaven.

Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy…” (Jude 24).

This verse tells me that God is continually “keeping me” from all my stumbling.  He is holding my hand.  He is walking alongside me all the way to the moment I leave this earth!

WE WILL arrive into the “presence of His glory with great joy!”

You will NOT fail or falter.  His love, His grace, His power, His mercy, His hand will KEEP YOU FROM FALLING!

Rest in God’s “keeping power” today.

Praise Him for His wings, His eye, His angels, and His hand.

Let the world “rock and roll.”  We are in the hand of the heavenly KEEPER.
