Keep it simple.  Truth is not hard.  Follow these four things.

I recently took a trip to another state, spending a few days with Melanie.  I was driving, and I was using “Google Maps.”

Google Maps now shows you the speed limit for the road you are following.  It’s a great feature.  The only problem was that sometimes Google indicated one speed, while the road sign on the road indicated something else.

Which do I believe?  Technology or truth?

I knew Google was good, but it would not be there to pay the ticket if I were stopped.  The officer writing the ticket would follow what is written on the sign.

Here are some reasons to go by the truth when it contradicts technology:

  1.  “It is written.”

Satan is a crafty adversary.  He devises clever, cunning, convincing ideas to draw us away from the truth.

Has God said, “ Satan asked Eve. Satan is an “angel of light.”  Our world is currently filled with compelling ideas and ideologies.

What does the Word of God say?

Jesus told a conniving devil, “It is written.”

In other words, “The sign says.”

Find a Scripture for every idea being batted around and stick close to it.

2.  “The Scripture ALSO says”

Satan even quoted a Scripture to Jesus (Psalm 91)!  He told Jesus that if he would jump from the temple pinnacle, “He will give His angels charge over you.”

Jesus said, “Again, it is written, you shall not tempt the Lord your God” (Mt. 4:7).

Don’t be swayed by a Scripture misapplied.  Does it line up with other verses that pertain to that truth?

People are selecting one verse from Scripture to construct an entire doctrine that is often contradicted in other passages.

Be careful of anything but the “signposts on the way.”

3. “Let God be true”

Romans says, “Let God be true though every one were a liar, as it is written…” (Rom. 3:4)

Our technological world has given us a huge platform with which to spout our opinions, hurts, grievances, and judgments.

Where is the Word in all of that?

I have decided to “Let God be true.”

The Holy Spirit gave us 66 books filled with Divine revelation on every possible subject.

Man’s opinions matter little to me.

4.  “Pay attention to the Word”

My son, pay attention to what I say.  Listen closely to My words” (Prov. 4: 20, NIV)

We are hearing so many voices in today’s world, and we are not paying attention to God’s Word.

I have been reading through the Scriptures annually for 36 years, and I still pay attention to them.

More than that, I meditate on one or two verses from every day’s reading.  I have quit paying so much attention to the media and rather focus on “keeping His Word before my eyes.”

Sound old-fashioned?  I enjoy using technology, reading men’s opinions, and learning from others.

Foremost, however, I have my eyes on the “signpost of God’s written Word.”

I can never go wrong with “thus says the Lord.”

That makes it easy.
