Losing your footing? How about a nice new set of hinds' feet?

You may have gone through something recently that “knocked you off your feet.”

A disappointment, a betrayal, a sudden financial loss, or a diagnosis can send you reeling down the mountainside.

You need a new set of “hinds’ feet.”

You may be “knocked down,” but you are not “knocked out.”

The Bible mentions this species of deer often.  It refers to a small deer who can leap over any rock, mountain, or ledge.  Its back feet can replace its front feet perfectly.

Here is what hinds’ feet will do for you:

  1.  Return you back to where you got off.

My Dad told me years ago that he saw a video about a hind that fell from a high peak.  It immediately scampered right back up to where it fell from!

We all have falls.  Unexpected reversals.  We think “all is lost.”

It’s not.  God will restore.  He gives you hinds feet.

A failure is often a precursor to a new way of doing something.

2.  Give you confidence instead of fear.

The hind is so balanced, so sure-footed, that it tackles any hill or ledge with a sense of confidence.

Sometimes we dread anything challenging.

We fear failure.  We calculate the odds.

The hind scampers over any obstacle.

Let God restore your sense of confidence.  Past failures cannot dictate present challenges.  Get back up again and conquer it!

3. Change your perspective.

“Though the fig tree should not blossom and there be no fruit on the vines, though the yield of the olive should fail and the fields produce no food, though the flock should be cut off from the fold and there be no cattle in the stalls…HE HAS MADE MY FEET LIKE HINDS’ FEET and makes me walk on my high places” (Hab. 3: 17)

Habakkuk was looking at totally empty orchards, fields and livestock barns.

He could have thrown up his hands in despair, sat down and gotten depressed.

His answer?  “Hinds’ feet.”  His perspective changed from “beneath” to “above.”

I asked someone once, “How are you doing?”  They replied, “Pretty good, under the circumstances.”  I said “What are you doing under there?”  Put on your new hinds’ feet.

4.  Keep fighting until you win.

For who is God, but the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God, the God who girds me with strength and makes my way blameless?  HE MAKES MY FEET LIKE HINDS’ FEET, and sets me upon my high places.” (Ps. 18: 31-33).

David was in the midst of a battle.  A tough battle.

He could see God putting Him into a position over His opponent:  “Hinds’ feet.”

You are not beneath, you are above your opponent.  You have the “high ground.”  You can quickly scamper above them and win the victory.

With hinds feet, it’s not over until we win.

Get up again.

Rise up to the high ground.

Get excited over your sure-footedness.

You don’t need a new pair of Nikes.  You need a new set of hinds’ feet.
