Mind your mind: Monitoring your thoughts for peace
The other day I asked AI about something. To my surprise, it gave me information I knew was totally false. I corrected it and it told me that I was right!
AI is a good tool, but it doesn’t always tell the truth. You have to double check it.
Your mind is like that. Subtle, random thoughts will just appear in your mind. Thoughts of fear and discouragement. Thoughts of doubt and unbelief. Thoughts of animosity against another person.
Use these tools to “mind your mind”:
CONSIDER THE SOURCE
My grandfather used to always use that phrase about anyone who says something false: “Consider the source.”
Any thought that is contrary to your spirit is either from your flesh or Satan himself.
Your spirit is born again, a new creation. It is full of love, faith, and hope.
Your flesh is the old nature, your crucified self. Consider the source.
CAST IT DOWN.
“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (2 Cor. 10: 5, KJV)
The mind is the crossroads of “spirit” and “flesh.” Don’t just let a thought pull up a chair and sit down in your mind. If it is from a different source than your spirit, cast it out forcefully.
You would not allow a rattlesnake into your house and neither should you tolerate demonic thoughts.
They are dangerous.
Be ruthless and say out loud, “Fear, leave my mind. I cast you out and cast you down and take you prisoner in Jesus’ Name.”
DON’T BE DECEIVED
“That we might not have Satan get an advantage against us, for we are not ignorant of his thoughts” (2 Cor. 2:11, Darby)
“Thoughts” is also translated “schemes, devices, purposes, strategies.”
We are dealing with a real person who came to Eve and put a very dangerous thought in her mind. He “beguiled, deceived” her (2 Cor. 11:3)
One little thought, “Has God said?” has upended the whole planet for thousands of years!
If a thought does not line up with the Word of God, immediately treat it as destructive as dynamite.
Don’t play with it mentally and entertain it. Don’t reason with it and try to outsmart it. CAST IT OUT of your mind.
LET’S GET PRACTICAL.
If a nagging thought leaves you fearful, depressed, or hopeless, JUST KNOW that it did not come from God. His Word always encourages us and gives us hope.
If a relationship with someone who is not a Christian seems to blossom, JUST KNOW that God does not want you “yoked together” with an unbeliever. Break it off.
If something tells you to post something hateful, vengeful, or retaliatory, JUST KNOW that it did not come from your spirit.
If a thought tells you that you don’t need other Christians in a church, JUST KNOW that Satan does not want you in church.
And on and on. Every day. Examine and scrutinize your thoughts. Reject those against the Scripture.
Like AI. You better be checking.
