These thoughts will make your prayer life really soar

And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.” (Luke 18:1)

It seems to me that the biggest problem in prayer is giving up.

Losing heart.  No change.  No movement.

The Lord told a parable about a widow who wanted her legal rights.  A judge finally, finally, got worn out with her and “gave her justice.”

What does that mean to you and me in the times when we start to lose heart in prayer?

1.That judge was unjust.  Our judge is the ultimate justice.

Jesus said that the judge “did not fear God nor respect man.”

God is the opposite!  He IS GOD and He created and loves every single human being.  He is actually a Father to you and me.

Relax.  Your father is the Judge!

He will never allow His child to be mistreated and stolen from when it is in His power to stop it.

2.  We are God’s “elect.”

And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night?” (Luke 18: 7).

Elect means chosen, selected with thoughtful choice and deliberation.

Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies” (Rom. 8: 33).  Relax, and think of yourself as one highly favoured by God.  Satan wants to accuse you before God, but the blood of Christ has given you “election.”

3.  God wants to get you the help you need.

Will he delay long over them? I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily.” (Luke 18: 7-8)

Christ was telling us that, even though it may seem like an eternity, the answer is on it’s way… “speedily!”

Think of the answer to prayer like the speed of light.  It can still take months for light to travel from one star to us.

KNOW THIS:  God is working to get your answer to you as rapidly as possible.

4.  Remember that your enemy can delay an answer.

The God of peace will SOON crush Satan under your feet” (Rom. 16:20)

The identical word “soon” is the word “speedily” in Luke 18.  Notice that Satan is introduced as the one who delays the answer.

Daniel prayed for 21 days with no answer.

Finally, an angel met him and told him that his prayer had been heard “on the first day.”  Satan, referred to as “the Prince of Persia,” had been blocking the answer.

5.  Our role is to remain in faith.

Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” (Luke 18:8). When Amazon is out delivering packages and they send me a notice that it will be there today, I trust it.  I even tell people, “It’s on its way.”

Surely we trust God as much as Amazon!

Remain in faith.  Keep trusting.  Rest in His promise.  Keep thanking Him for His faithfulness.

That will make your prayer life SOAR!
