You may have to learn to fight sitting down
“Please remain seated during the flight.”
I’ve heard it hundreds of times on shaky, turbulent flights. The captain asked the passengers not to get up when the aircraft is under stress.
We automatically obey! We feel that the seat is the safest place on the plane if it starts to list left or right or drop rapidly.
“He seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Eph. 2:6).
During turbulent times in life, we tend to want to get OUT of our seats! Stay seated.
When the “fasten seat belt” lights come on in your life, remember these important things about your heavenly seat in Christ:
1. That seat is “far above” the kingdom of darkness.
The Bible says that Jesus sat down on the right hand of God and that His seat is “FAR ABOVE all rule, authority, power and dominion.”
Satan is not a “close second!”
His Name is also FAR ABOVE every other name that is named.
The good news is that Eph. 2:6 says you and I are seated in that seat of power and authority with Christ.
TAKE YOUR SEAT.
2. Your thoughts need to constantly be upon your heavenly “seat.”
Colossians 3:1 says, “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.”
Satan seeks to drag your thoughts back down to this earth. All of the chaos and turmoil; all of the gossip and anger; all of the violence and war.
DON’T LEAVE YOUR SEAT.
When anxiety knocks at your door, answer it “from your seat.”
The seat you share with Christ is your new address. It is where you are located in the spiritual world.
3. All things are under Christ’s feet.
Ephesians 1 says that “He has placed all things under His feet, and given Christ to be the Head of His body, the Church.”
Christ is the Head, we are the body. The feet are not in the head, they are in the body.
If all things are under Christ’s feet, they are also under YOUR feet.
Take your position. Someone said, “Quit wrestling from the basement below, and start taking authority from the balcony above!”
4.You must TAKE your authority in Christ.
Parents have a hard time with this also. Some parents allow their children to “rule the roost.” They throw fits, tantrums, and basically embarrass their parents constantly in public.
You don’t get your neighbor to come discipline your child! YOU have to take your rightful place as their authority.
A brand-new, rookie police officer who was just sworn in last night has the same authority as a thirty year veteran. He has the same badge and the same gun.
No matter how new you are to the family of God, “take your seat!”
Christ has given you His Name to take authority and dominion over every attack of the enemy in your life.
Please remain seated during your flight.
Christ placed you there. Enjoy the ride.
