4 Types Of Pain And How To Overcome Them
People live with pain. Emotional pain can be greater than physical pain.
Jabez’ name means “pain.” He suffered from four types of pain and only God could help him recover.
What about your life? Is there something in the background, a silent pain you can’t identify? Is it a relationship that is a constant thorn in your side?
Pray the prayer of Jabez for these four specific areas:
The pain of POVERTY: “Bless me indeed…”
Poverty, deep debt, and constant lack is a deep inward pain. It suffers from embarrassment, hunger, frustration and anger.
Jabez asked God to bless him. There is absolutely nothing wrong with asking God to bless you financially. He knows that you need clothing, food, shelter, transportation, employment, tuition, retirement and a host of other financial needs.
Stop living inside that pain. Ask God to bless you, prosper your business, and supply your needs (He actually wants to do all of that anyway).
The pain of INFERIORITY: “Enlarge my territory…”
We all feel the pain of limitations. Your job feels like a dead end. Your education level limits your employability. You can’t afford to purchase a home. You feel that your gender, race, or handicap puts a lid on your upward mobility.
God wants to heal that pain. He wants to blow the lid off your limitations. With one contact, one open door, one shift He can open up a whole new world to you.
Pray this prayer every day. Ask God to expand your horizons next year in spite of your natural limitations.
The pain of INADEQUACY: “Let your hand be with me…”
We all know the pain of feeling like you don’t measure up. I’ve been placed in positions before that I knew I was not as good as others in that same position.
All that changes when “God is with you.” His presence gives you confidence, boldness, and courage. You don’t shrink back in fear and timidity but walk in “power, love, and a sound mind.”
Draw near to God and ask His presence to walk out the door with you today. You ARE ABLE to do what He has called you to do.
The pain of VULNERABILITY: “Keep me from harm…”
Satan is the master “inflicter” of pain. He inflicted Job with all four types of pain at one time: physical, financial, mental, and emotional.
That’s why I pray this phrase every day. That’s why I pray the Lord’s prayer every day: “Deliver me from evil.” That’s why I pray Psalm 91 every day. That’s why I put on the armor of God from Ephesians 6 every day.
We have a real enemy who loves to afflict the human race with pain.
“People are not your enemy.”
Pray this beautiful prayer of Jabez. Ask God daily for victory over poverty, inferiority, inadequacy, and vulnerability.
He is your strength and your shield.
He has the power to change your “pain” into “purpose.”
