Divine Rest is Easy When You Balance These Three Powerful Principles
My wife can float.
It’s easy for Melanie. She just lies back on the water with her entire body on the top. She can be in that position while talking and relaxing.
That’s the key.
I, on the other hand, cannot relax in water. Melanie supports me with her hand. The moment she takes her hand away, my legs start sinking to the bottom!
It’s got to be my bones.
She watches me and says, “It’s so easy!”
Faith is like that. The less you fight and struggle, the easier it is to rest.
Here are three principles God has taught me to enter into Divine Rest:
1. Walk in the PROMISES.
God gave His great and magnificent promises to build our faith in Him.
The promises are a Divine “float.” I can lie back and rest like being on a rubber float!
Find a promise. Better yet, find several promises. I try to find ten or more promises about any particular issue I am trying to be victorious in.
Quote that promise back to God many times. Remind Him of it, and your spirit starts to “rest” on that promise. It is as though the Holy Spirit opens your mind to understand and you start leaning your spiritual weight on that promise.
2. Walk in your POSITION.
Jesus told us that “My yoke is easy.” (Mt. 11:30).
It takes two animals to be in a yoke. In the same way, we are in the yoke of Jesus, walking alongside Him. We are, literally, “one.”
We are sitting with Him in heavenly places (Eph. 2: 6). We are “in Christ,” and Christ is “in us.”
That makes it EASY.
Relax in your position. Let Him fight your battles. He has already won the victory.
Don’t struggle and flail around. Slip into the easy yoke with Christ and let Him pull the load. You just walk alongside Him, staying in “position” with Him.
3. Walk in your PRAISE.
Looking back over Scriptures, we can see the power of praise.
Jehoshaphat led his army into battle with a team of praising Levites. The enemy fought among themselves and were totally defeated. Praise won the battle.
Joshua commanded his people to lift a unified shout of praise. The massive walls of Jericho fell flat. Praise won the battle.
Paul and Silas praised and sang with their backs bleeding and their arms and legs in stocks. An earthquake set them free. Praise won the battle.
The same works for you and me. Every day, circle your Jericho with praise.
Praise brings rest.
When you combine these three things (promises, position, and praise), your spirit enters into God’s rest.
You start to “float!”
Start today. These three words frighten your enemy. You may not see any change in the world you can see. Believe me, things are shifting in the unseen world.
The less you struggle…the easier your victory!
