How to turn your Christmas Day into a new perspective

Well, today is the big day…Christmas.

It means so many things to so many people.  Food, parties, carols, surprises, family, decorations….and Jesus!

Funny, how He gets last place on His own birthday.

Let me give you my perspective on Christmas….

1.The reality of God’s love for me.

For God SO LOVED the world that He gave His only Son….” (Jn. 3: 16)

Christmas is about God’s love.

He could not allow the human race (that He created) to languish in sin, hatred, sickness, and pain.

He gave an unthinkable gift:  His Holy Spirit placed Jesus in a human body and let Him become “flesh.”

Only a “God-man” could step between man and God and reconcile the two after man’s rebellion.

Stop right now and thank Him for His great love.

2. The reality of His supernatural power.

Some people laugh at the idea of the Holy Spirit placing Jesus inside Mary’s womb.

Mary didn’t.  She believed.

Even though it probably cost her some embarrassment (with people noticing her pregnancy during engagement), she told the angel, “Let it be to me according to your word.”  (Luke 1:38).

A miracle.  A miracle pregnancy.  A miracle birth.

The angel told Mary, "For nothing will be impossible with God” (Luke 1:37).  Christmas is about God’s miraculous power to intervene in your life supernaturally, regardless of what it is you need.

3. The reality of Satan’s opposition.

Herod grilled the wise men about the “star in the East” they were following.  He had one agenda:  kill Him.

From the moment of Christ’s birth, Satan tried to kill Him.  He represented the ultimate enemy to Satan.

Fortunately, the angel warned Joseph and Mary to take Jesus to Egypt and safety.  The Bethlehem babies under two years of age were all murdered instead.

At numerous points in Christ’s life, Satan attempted to take His life.  He failed each time.

His final attempt to kill Him in Jerusalem on a cross was actually a means of sacrificing His blood for the sins of the world.

Satan is real, and we would be at His mercy if Christ had not come and defeated Him on the cross and in the resurrection!

4. The reality of Christ’s second coming

The prophets spoke of Christ’s birth in very explicit terms:  where, when, what He would do, and many, many more intricate predictions.

They also spoke of His second coming in innumerable places in the Old Testament.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government will be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace, there will be no end….” (Isa. 9: 6)

He’s coming back to establish an eternal Kingdom on earth.  If you doubted His first coming, don’t doubt His second coming!

Today (Monday) is Christmas.  Remember:  He loves you, He can do anything, He defeated Satan, and He’s coming back again!
