Four ways to pray for our nation now
Is there any doubt that Tuesday is one of the most critical days in our nation’s journey?
Is God involved or concerned?
How could we pray in a way that pleases Him?
Could our prayers “move the needle” and glorify God?
I think so.
HERE ARE FOUR PRAYER POINTS WE SHOULD PRAY FOR:
1. Pray that America will elect a godly and wise leader.
'“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions…” (1 Tim. 2: 1)
A “king” (or president) wields tremendous power over our lives. Their favor toward godly or ungodly issues can result in a loss of God’s protection over our nation.
Pray for the Lord to put into office a leader who will follow His will. Israel’s history is filled with ungodly leaders (like Jezebel, Manasseh, and others) who killed the righteous and led the nation into ungodly practices.
“Lord, let your leader win our election. May your name be feared and honored by our next President.”
2. Pray that our new leader will lead us into peace and rest from our enemies.
“Pray…for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way” (1 Tim. 2: 2).
Violence in our streets…confusion in our laws…threats from our enemies…are all the opposite of a “peaceful and quiet life.”
Satan’s kingdom thrives in anarchy.
God said to David, “For his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quiet to Israel in his days.” (1 Chron 22:9)
“Peace..” “Quiet.” That’s what God wanted in Israel and what He wants in our nation NOW.
3. Pray for America to turn back to God and His Son, Jesus.
“This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” ( 1 Tim. 2: 3-4).
Our nation is pluralistic. All religions are welcome to worship here.
We, as Christians, believe that Christ is “the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” He alone has dealt with our sins. He alone is the “Prince of Peace,” healing the wounds of division.
His “new birth” and “fruit of the Spirit” can alone rescue our nation from division, violence, hatred, and destruction.
Pray for America to be SAVED.
4. Pray for a leader to be elected who will implement Biblical principles of economics and national protection.
We are the strongest economy in the world. God has blessed us beyond measure. That blessing, however, can be lifted from us.
Communism and socialism have failed. They tyrannize and destroy everywhere they go.
Pray for prosperity. Pray for justice for the poor, the widow, and the defenseless.
Pray for wisdom in our national defense.
Tuesday will come and go. Pray for these four principles for the NEXT FOUR YEARS.
May “God Bless America.”
