Heal Our Land
Throughout October, we have been praying for our nation for one month: “repentance, returning, reconciliation.” Now, it is time to pray for the greatest miracle: “revival.”
History has been dotted with great revivals: the Cane Ridge revival, the Welsh revival, the New York Prayer Revival, the Azuza revival, and too many others to mention.
That’s all good…but where is our revival?
Revivals are when the general population turns to God. They realize how far they have drifted. At times, during revivals, jails were empty and courtrooms had no cases to try.
Pray this way for a national revival in America:
Pray for those in authority (1 Tim. 2: 2).
Paul told us that we must pray fervently for those in civil government. Regardless of their party affiliation, they are holding an office meant to subdue anarchy and preserve the peace.
Revival needs to begin at the top. Civic leaders, pastors, judges, law enforcement authorities, and any others “in authority” need revival. They need to put off petty arguing and seek order in our nation. They need their families to be in order. They need to call sin what it is. They need to teach and model what “brotherly love” is all about.
“Lord, may every elected and appointed official, secular, and spiritual, be a model of Christ in His example of servant leadership.”
Pray for all people to be saved (1 Tim. 2:2)
Our nation guarantees everyone’s right to worship in freedom. That does not, however, guarantee that they are worshipping in the “knowledge of the truth.”
Paul said, “There is one God, and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all” (v. 4).
Our prayer this week should be for every person in our nation to come to know the love that Christ demonstrated for them when He “gave Himself as a ransom” on the cross. Though we respect everyone’s religion, Christians believe that “there is ONE Mediator between God and men.”
“Lord, let every friend, relative, neighbor, and co-worker of mine be awakened to the love Christ showed for them when He died to pay the price for their sins.”
Prayer for every church to experience God’s Presence.
In the Old Testament, the Presence of God came down at the Temple dedication and the priests could not even stand to fulfill their duties.
In the New Testament, the Christians in the great prayer meetings in Acts often experienced the “place where they were assembled began to shake.”
We need an insatiable THIRST for God’s presence. People should not simply attend church. They should BE vessels of His Presence. Our services, whether liturgical, traditional or contemporary, should be charged with an atmosphere of God’s presence.
“Lord, let my church be filled with your Presence. Let every believer carry that Presence home from their church to their jobs, their schools, and their conversations.”
Pray this week for a revival among our leaders, in every person, and in our churches.
