How your feet may be the most powerful weapon of faith
Have you stopped to think about how unique our feet are?
We are one of the only creatures that have them and stand upright on them.
Spiritually, feet infer dominion. Scripture says that God has put “all things under Christ’s feet.”
WHAT ABOUT YOU?
God wants to give you dominion as well. He made mankind in His image to exert dominion over the earth.
Here are three ways God wants to put “faith in your feet”:
Walking around your problem.
God told Abram to “Arise, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I will give it to you” (Gen. 13: 17).
It must have taken him months!
He told Joshua to “walk around Jericho for seven days.” On the seventh day, the massive city wall collapsed.
I learned the power of your feet once when I was a missionary in Africa. I walked around a plot of land we were buying, but I didn’t feel like walking to the back of the property.
Exactly where I crossed over as a “shortcut” was where the owner sold to us!
Walk around your neighborhood, your workplace, your school, and claim that whole entity for God. Watch God bless the faith in your feet!
2. Get your feet wet in God’s plan for your life.
Joshua told the priests to “put their feet” into the Jordan River as they were holding the Ark of the Covenant.
Immediately, the water started to recede onto dry ground.
We call it “getting your feet wet.” It is a colloquial term for trying something you have not yet mastered.
Driving a car. Singing, speaking, or praying in public. Fixing mechanical problems. Enrolling in higher education.
If God has called you, YOU CAN DO IT. Get your feet wet. You have to walk before you run, and you have to wade before you swim.
3. Recognize that God has defeated your enemies.
A third moment where Joshua’s feet were important was at the “cave of the five kings.”
These five enemy kings were hiding in a cave. Joshua sent his warriors in there and pulled them out of hiding.
He instructed his soldiers to lie them face down and then put their feet on the kings’ necks:
“Come near; put your feet on the necks of these kings.” Then they came near and put their feet on their necks. And Joshua said to them, “Do not be afraid or dismayed; be strong and courageous. For thus the LORD will do to all your enemies against whom you fight.” (Joshua 10: 24).
He wanted them to know that their enemies were “defeated!”
YOUR ENEMIES ARE DEFEATED.
In your mind and heart, keep your foot on the back of the neck of Satan’s generals. They are, and were, defeated by Christ in the resurrection!
Give God your feet.
This morning, walk around your problem. Command it to “be still.”
Your FEET are the secret to your FAITH.
