This is how to never lack your daily bread
People are in tough times right now. I hear it, I see it, I don’t like it.
I want people to have the resources they need daily.
Maybe that’s the problem. We think so long-term that we have stopped believing in our “daily bread.”
God promised His people “daily bread,” provision for what they need when needed.
LOOK AT THESE FIVE EXAMPLES OF HOW TO BELIEVE FOR YOUR DAILY PROVISION:
1.Daily ALLOWANCE.
“....and for his allowance, a regular allowance was given him by the king, according to his daily needs, as long as he lived” (2 Kings 25:30).
King Jehoiachin was in prison in Babylon for 37 years. One day, the Babylonian king set him free and seated him at the King’s table for every meal. He also gave him a daily allowance as long as he lived!
You may have been in a financial “prison.” Ask Him to provide your “daily allowance” to meet your needs “as long as you live!”
2. Daily BREAD.
Jesus taught us to pray, “Give us day by day our daily bread” (Mt. 6:11)
God will provide for your needs when you are middle-aged or even elderly. He does this on a “daily basis!”
“Daily bread” is the food, gas, utilities, housing, clothing, school, etc., you need each day. Figure out a daily budget that includes all your needs and ask God for that amount as your “daily bread.”
3. Daily MEASURE.
“Behold, I am about to rain bread from heaven for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day…” “But when they measured it with an omer, whoever gathered much had nothing left over, and whoever gathered little had no lack.” (Ex. 16:4, 18)
Manna was “daily bread.” Each person took an “omer” bucket (about ½ gallon) and gathered manna. It shrunk down to fit the omer if they gathered more than that. If they gathered too little, it increased to fill the omer!
“Daily bread” requires contentment. You cannot get greedy and experience daily provision. If you have excess, share it with others.
4. Daily DELIVERY.
Elijah experienced miraculous daily provision in the wilderness while hiding from King Ahab. Morning and evening, ravens delivered him food, and he drank from the brook in the wilderness.
I know of people who were totally out of groceries and had someone leave a couple of bags of groceries on their doorstep. The “ravens” are people sensitive to the Lord's leading and help provide for God’s people in their hour of need.
5. Daily BENEFITS.
“Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits” (Ps. 68:19, KJV). God has multiple ways of providing for your daily needs, even without money. For example, you can walk into the right store at the right time and save money on groceries. Your car and tires can go thousands of miles more than they usually would.
“Benefits.”
God has hundreds of ways of blessing you and me as part of our “daily bread.”
Thank Him right now for “giving you your daily bread.” In these days of difficulty and lack, God has not lost the recipe for manna!
