Three Words to Help You Through Any Difficulty: “I’m Above That”
“And if you faithfully obey the voice of the LORD your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the LORD your God will set you HIGH ABOVE all the nations of the earth.” (Deut. 28:1)
Why did God promise that? What does it mean to be “high above?”
It’s a perspective.
When we say ‘I’m above that,’ it’s not out of arrogance. It’s an alignment. It means because we are anchored in Christ, we are operating from a higher spiritual vantage point.
Your life will change with these three words: “I’m ABOVE THAT.”
1. You are “above” RELATIONAL CONFLICTS.
You can get down on people’s level to try to fight things out. Or, you can keep your eyes on Christ in the heavenly places and decide that you will not stoop to “mud wrestle” with them.
Someone said that if you wrestle with a pig you are bound to get muddy.
You are above that. It’s tempting to try to fight your own battles with the flesh. Live high. You are seated in the heavens with Christ. Live like it.
2. You are “above” FINANCIAL WORRY.
The Bible tells us that God will supply all our needs according to His RICHES IN GLORY IN CHRIST JESUS.
In other words, when you need something, ask God for it and believe that you receive it. Rest on the sureness of that promise.
Don’t get down into worry and anxiety.
Peter was fine as long as he focused on Christ. He floated on the water. When he looked down, he focused on the bottom of the sea.
Keep your eyes on Jesus, the “Author and Finisher of our faith.” That keeps you “above.”
3. You are “above” a BAD ATTITUDE.
Little things can get you down. Little disappointments, bad weather, betrayed expectations.
Your attitude could be described as “down.”
Actually, your face portrays whether your vision is up or down.
Your smile goes UP when you have your eyes on Christ. It goes DOWN when your eyes are on the world.
Notify your face.
I challenge you to look at everything with a smile today. It tells you that your eyes are on heavenly places where Christ (and you) are seated.
You can shift your attitude in less than one second.
4. You are “above” TEMPTATIONS.
Children have bad habits and poor manners. They do things that are “childish.”
You are ABOVE THAT. Lust, pornography, theft, lies, and many wrong behaviors are actually being childish.
The world has no problems with those things. That’s why you should not hang around with people who bring you DOWN.
You are ABOVE THAT. Choose good friends. Stop hanging around establishments where sin is constantly committed. Stop surfing the web for gossip and lies against others.
The greatest lesson you can learn about every day to day crisis in your life is three simple words:
“I’m above that.”
