How to receive any promise God has sent”
“He sent His Word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction.” (Ps. 107:20).
It didn’t say, “He sent His miracles.” It says He “sent His Word.” God SENDS His miracles by sending His WORD.
In other words, the way we receive His Word determines whether we receive the miracle.
Jesus said, “The sower sowed the Word” (Mark 4:14). In the parable, He described four different kinds of soil the seed landed on. Only one got the miraculous harvest.
Here are the four ways people receive the promises of God:
1. They reject the promise completely.
The first person (soil) let the devil immediately steal the Word. He convinced them, the moment they heard it, that it wasn’t real. “We are living in a REAL WORLD,” he says, “and that miracle stuff is for the birds!”
IT IS for the birds if you are full of unbelief! “...AND THE BIRDS came and devoured it.” (Mk. 4:4)
2. They rejoice in the Word and then get discouraged.
The second person is “he who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy. But these have no root; they believe for a while, and in time of testing fall away.” (Luke 8:13)
Some people get excited when they hear about God’s Word. However, they can only believe for a while. They cannot be patient and endure until the miracle manifests.
Satan convinces them that “nothing is happening. You are wasting your time. It’s not working.”
3. They get distracted from the Word.
The third person actually received a breakthrough. The situation turns around. The report improves. The money comes in. The addiction is gone.
“....but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature” (Luke 8: 14).
In other words, after the miracle, they got distracted.
Satan replaces church attendance with hobbies, Bible reading with iphone surfing. They stopped reading, meditating on, and speaking out the Word. In other words, they have no more time for the Word.
4. They hold it fast and bear fruit with patience.
“...they hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience.” (Luke 8: 15)
The fourth person (the one we want to be) makes a lifetime commitment to the Word of God.
Every day, they read, study, meditate, and speak out the promises of God.Over and over, rain or shine, day or night, summer or winter, they live by the Word. If it looks like it’s working or if it seems to be getting worse, they continue to abide in the Word.
It’s not that God is not sending miracles. He sent His Word. We are the ones not receiving it properly.
What is your problem today? Find ten Scriptures that promise God’s freedom from that problem. Read them out loud, pray them, and praise them EVERY SINGLE DAY.
Don’t listen to Satan’s lies. Don’t get discouraged. Don’t get distracted. Stay focused on the promises of God.
God sent the seed. If you protect it, water it and cultivate it, YOU WILL REAP THE HARVEST.
